Along with signing NDAA, Obama released a Presidential Signing Statement in which he assured "Moreover, I want to clarify that my Administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens.  Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a Nation."

That sounds reassuring, but it doesn't mean much.  "Presidential Signing Statements" are political documents that have no Constitutional basis and do not modify the laws to which they refer.  In these Orwellian times, Obama's empty promise that we have nothing to worry about should warn us that in fact we have plenty to worry about.

Questions for leaders and supporters of the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee

Radamase Cabrera, whom the press has identified as a spokesman for the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee, has posted from the email address "flh.pac@gmail.com"  a message entitled "Personal Critique of the MD Governor's Redistricting Advisory Committee Legislative Redistricting Plan." His statement also appeared at Bmorenews.com.

Mr. Cabrera's message includes the following:

Every White man 60 years of age and older who grew up in America was socialized to believe the following notions:

1. One can treat a Black Man any way one desires and if the negro gets sassy, he can be threatened with lynching or castration.
2. Any Black woman rich or poor, north or south is a free target of sexual desires of any White man. 
3. Negroes are intellectually, spiritually and morally inferior to White people because of the curse of "Ham" outlined in the King James Bible.

Questions:

1. Does this posting by Mr. Cabrera reflect the policies or positions of the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee or its officers and leaders?
   
2. If it does reflect the organization's views, can you cite any academic studies or other evidence that would support such a broad statement?
   
3. And if does reflect the organization's views, can you provide me with some examples or explanation of how and by whom this indoctrination was carried out, say for example, in the 1940s and 1950s in North Dakota, where most white residents grew up never meeting or even seeing a Black man or woman in person or on television (which did not reach most western rural areas until long after the formative years during which this alleged indoctrination would have occurred).
   
4. Finally, if this does not reflect the views of the organization or its leaders, will the organization be making such a statement?
